Carson Beck has had his ups and downs this season, but ultimately has led Georgia to an undefeated record and put together a solid year.
After Georgia’s dominant win over Florida on Saturday, Kirby Smart came to the defense of his quarterback, telling the media that they worry about Beck more than he worries about him.
“I don’t worry about Carson, I mean apparently you guys do,” Smart said in his postgame press conference. “I don’t worry about Carson. He’s very confident, he’s calm, he understands football, he’s never real high or real low, he studies really hard, he asks questions all week, he studies and meets with Coach Bobo all week. He puts a plan together and makes good decisions.”
Smart has seen Beck get more comfortable and start to improve throughout the season.
“He’s continued to improve at not putting us in bad situations,” Smart said. “There’s things that aren’t on the stat sheet that I don’t have time to explain that he does an elite job at… run checks, looks, putting us in the best play, decision to throw the RPO or hand the ball off. Not really a value you can put on that.”
On Saturday, Beck had 315 yards and a pair of touchdowns, one of his best performances of his career so far. The Bulldogs will continue to put their trust in Beck as they continue their quest for another championship.
