Georgia had several players battling injuries against Vanderbilt, but the Bulldogs also lost depth at wide receiver with the late injury to Kearis Jackson.
Jackson suffered broken bones in his hand/wrist area on a play early in the fourth quarter near the Vanderbilt goal line as he fumbled the ball. Coach Kirby Smart said at his Monday press conference that Jackson would be out three to four weeks.
Jackson had two catches for 31 yards in the 30-6 win over Vanderbilt.
The No. 3 Bulldogs play host to Murray State this week in a 4 p.m. home opener when they will officially name the field in honor of former coach and athletics director Vince Dooley.
In other injury news, Smart said LB Nakobe Dean is still an injury he suffered in practice earlier in the preseason.
“Nakobe is hurting, still,” Smart said. “We thought he was close to being able to go in the game, but it’s still bothering Nakobe. He was tough enough to try and go.”
DE Malik Herring and DT Julian Rochester (ACL) both dressed for the game but didn’t play.
“We talked about it after the game, if (Herring) continues to get better, he’ll play,” Smart said. “Julian was there. We take guys that can play. He continues to get better and regain health.”

ILB Nakobe Dean is still bothered by the (unspecified) injury that caused him to miss a week in the preseason, per Smart, who said Dean tried to play on it at Vanderbilt but quickly came out. Quay Walker ended up getting the most ILB snaps off the bench behind Crowder/Rice.
