Matt Corral is entering his fourth season at Ole Miss, so the redshirt junior has plenty of experience under his belt. It’ll be his second year playing for head coach Lane Kiffin, so he’ll also be back in the same system.
And ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit believes Corral is set up to have a “monster year.”
There’s been plenty of preseason hype for Corral, and there’s a good chance he lives up to it. Last season, he took a big step forward in passing for 3,337 yards and 29 touchdowns in 10 games. What will he do to build off of that in 2021?
Herbstreit discussed his expectations for Corral and the Rebels on a conference call with the media on Wednesday, and Michael Katz of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal shared Herbstreit’s comments on Twitter:
Just hopped on a conference call with @KirkHerbstreit and had a chance to ask him about QB Matt Corral and the job Lane Kiffin has done at Ole Miss. He gave a great answer. pic.twitter.com/N99sslEdVF

As Herbstreit mentioned, the key to Ole Miss’ success could be how it fares on defense and whether it can “be a more complete team.” Because Corral and the offense are likely going to put up some more impressive numbers this season.
Ole Miss opens the season with a matchup against Louisville in Atlanta on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
