Kirk Herbstreit, ESPN analysts weigh in on best team in college football

Kirk Herbstreit and his ESPN colleagues do not agree with the College Football Playoff selection committee.
Rece Davis served as host for ESPN’s reveal of the committee’s first top 25 of the season. After Ohio State was revealed as the No. 1 team, he asked the 4 analysts if they considered OSU to be the best team in college football. The Buckeyes are entering Week 10 8-0 with notable wins over Notre Dame and Penn State.
Davis first asked Herbstreit if OSU is the best team.
“I don’t think so,” Herbstreit said. “Not right now.”
None of the 4 analysts consider Ohio State to be the best team through Week 9.
“I think Florida State’s the best team,” Booger McFarland offered.
Joey Galloway is sticking with the two-time defending national champions.
“I’ve been saying Georgia all along. I think Georgia’s the best team in the country,” Galloway responded to Davis.
“I think Michigan,” Greg McElroy chimed in.
With 1 undefeated team from each Power 5 conference, there’s a more lively debate than usual. It’s always a plus to start in the driver’s seat, but things tend to change over the final stretch of the season.
Last season, Tennessee was ranked No. 1 in the first CFP poll. The Volunteers finished with 2 losses, missing the Playoff.
