Much like the rest of the fans, players and coaches in the Big Ten, Kirk Herbstreit just wants to see the teams up north have the opportunity to play this fall with the vast majority of the Power 5 teams around of the country.

Taking that into consideration, the ESPN college football analyst and College GameDay host was pretty fired up to hear the comments made by Nebraska president Ted Carter on a hot mic on Tuesday.

“We’re getting ready to announce the Huskers and Big Ten football tonight,” said Carter in a conversation with Bob Hinson, director of the National Strategic Research Institute.

Carter has already walked back those comments but that’s not going to stop fans from getting excited regarding the Big Ten’s potential return to the field this fall.

During a live appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, the comments made by the Nebraska president were shared with Herbstreit for the first time.

His reaction was priceless.
