Alabama’s SEC Championship Game clash with Georgia was an instant classic, so it’s not surprise to see Kirk Herbstreit recognize participants from that game on his weekly list of top performers.

The Crimson Tide and quarterback Jalen Hurts checked in as his top team and player performers, respectively, while Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm also got some props from Herbstreit even in defeat.

Hurts took over in the fourth quarter for injured starter Tua Tagovailoa, leading back-to-back touchdown drives in the game’s final six minutes as No. 1 Alabama rallied for a 35-28 victory to maintain its undefeated season. Making Hurts’ performance even more spectacular is his history with the Crimson Tide, for which he went 26-2 as the starter before getting permanently benched at halftime of last year’s national championship game.

But Fromm was also brilliant, completing 25 of 39 passes for 301 yards and three scores while not committing a turnover in a fearless performance. That was enough to earn some love for Herbstreit, too.
