Kirk Herbstreit has named his top-performing coaches for Week 3, as he does after every college football Saturday.
After Week 3, Herbstreit had a representative from 7 different conferences in his list of the 7 most impressive teams.
Coming in at No. 2 was the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide went to Madison, which is historically a tough place to play and manhandled the Wisconsin Badgers.
The Tide walked out of Camp Randall Stadium with a 42-10 victory to remain perfect on the young season. Jalen Milroe had an excellent game, throwing for 196 yards and 3 touchdowns, and running for 75 yards and 2 more scores.
On defense, the Tide held the Badgers to just 290 total yards of offense, with much of that yardage coming after the game got out of reach. The Alabama defense forced 2 turnovers and collected 2 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, and 7 pass deflections.

The No. 1 spot on Herbstreit’s list, however, went to the Washington State Cougars. The Cougars defeated in-state rival Washington in the Apple Cup and improved to 3-0 on the season.
The other teams on Herbstreit’s list were Pittsburgh, UCF, Toledo, Georgia State, and Memphis. Notably, Toledo dominated Mississippi State at home while Memphis upset Florida State in Tallahassee. Pittsburgh won a shootout with West Virginia, while UCF mounted a nice comeback to defeat TCU. Georgia State got a win over the SEC’s Vanderbilt in Atlanta.
After Alabama’s impressive performance, the team will enjoy a bye week in Week 4. However, the team must prepare to face No. 2 Georgia in Week 5.
