Kirk Herbstreit names top-performing coaches for Week 10, including 1 SEC assistant
Kirk Herbstreit has named his top-performing coaches for Week 10.
Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy headlines the list this week after the Cowboys upset rival Oklahoma in Bedlam. From the SEC, Alabama defensive coordinator Kevin Steele was the lone representative.
Steele made the cut after Alabama’s defense halted a high-powered LSU offense in Week 10. The Tide limited LSU to just 28 points — their lowest total since their Week 1 loss to LSU.
Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, Washington’s Ryan Grubb, Army’s Jeff Monken, Louisville’s Mark Hagen and Ron English and Arizona’s Johnny Nansen also made the cut.

Steele is in his first season as Alabama’s defensive coordinator. The Tide’s defense has been strong this season — they’ve allowed just 4.93 yards per play so far in 2023, which ranks 3rd in the SEC.
Alabama is one win away from clinching the SEC West title. The Tide can clinch their spot in the SEC Championship Game on Sunday with a win over Kentucky.
Kickoff vs. the Wildcats is set for 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
