We’re only in Week 4 but it’s never too late to start predicting who will make the College Football Playoff. ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit interestingly is projecting that an 0-2 team will rise up to qualify for the CFP.

During a segment of College GameDay, Herbstreit said that he believes Notre Dame will win out the rest of its schedule to finish 10-2 and claim a playoff spot.

“They finish 10-2 and, yes, Notre Dame will be in the Playoffs at 10-2,” Herbstreit said. “I just think Notre Dame is in.”

It’s been a rough start for a Notre Dame program that reached the CFP national title game last season.

Despite being winless, Notre Dame is currently ranked No. 24 in the AP poll. The Fighting Irish fell to then-No. 10 Miami 27-24 in their season opener and lost 41-40 to then-No. 16 Texas A&M last weekend. At the moment, there’s only 1 remaining ranked opponent on Notre Dame’s schedule as they try to boost their stock, which is the Oct. 18 rivalry matchup vs. No. 25 USC.

Notre Dame will aim to get its first victory when they take on visiting Purdue in Week 4. Purdue is 2-1 and coming off a 33-17 loss vs. USC last Saturday.

Notre Dame leads the all-time series 58-26-2 vs. Purdue with 3 straight victories. Notre Dame vs. Purdue is set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff (NBC/Peacock).
