Kirk Herbstreit had a chaotic college football Saturday. He and Rece Davis left Austin, Texas, right after College GameDay and ended up in California to call the USC vs. Stanford game. The Trojans defeated the Cardinal 41-28.
Chaos was the theme for Saturday, too, as 3 top 10 teams all lost — No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 8 Notre Dame and No. 9 Baylor. The Aggies and Irish were defeated be unranked opponents at home.
However, there seems to be a consensus right now regarding the top 6 teams in college football. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson and USC likely round out many top 25s after Week 2 action. Oklahoma is certainly in the mix, too.
Herbstreit is no different, although he may disagree with the AP Top 25 that will be out around 2 p.m. ET.
The College GameDay analyst and broadcaster ranks Georgia the top team in the country after drubbing Samford 33-0. The Bulldogs have outscored their first 2 opponents 82-3. Herbstreit then has Ohio State at No. 2, as the Buckeyes dismantled Arkansas State 45-12 Saturday. Alabama, which narrowly defeated Texas 20-19 Saturday on a last-second field goal, is ranked as Herbstreit’s No. 3 team, and Michigan rounded out his top 4. The Wolverines hammered Hawaii 56-10.
Clemson and USC were Herbstreit’s next 2 after Week 2.
My early top 4 which will be very fluid until we get more results and intel.

How much will Herbstreit’s rankings differ from the AP Top 25 poll? We will find out this afternoon.
