Kirk Herbstreit reveals the most impressive players from Week 5, including 5 from the SEC
Kirk Herbstreit always points out the players, coaches, and teams that impressed him the most after each week of college football action.
After a loaded Week 5 slate, Herbstreit identified the 8 players who most impressed him, including 5 from the SEC.

At the No. 1 spot, Herbstreit had Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Ryan Williams share the honors.
Milroe completed 27-of-33 passes for 374 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. Williams had a massive day, catching 6 passes for 177 yards and 1 TD. Williams had the game-sealing TD late in the 4th quarter.
On the other side of Saturday’s new classic, Carson Beck got Herbstreit’s No. 2 spot. Beck threw for 439 yards with 3 TDs and 3 INTs. The Georgia QB led a ferocious comeback in the 2nd half to give the Bulldogs a brief lead after trailing 28-0 in the 1st half.
The other 2 SEC players were Arch Manning and Kip Lewis.
Manning threw for 324 yards with 2 TDs in the huge win over Mississippi State. Kip Lewis had 5 tackles and a 63-yard TD on an INT.
Outside of the SEC, Herbstreit had UNLV’s Hajj-Malik Williams, Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty, and Colorado’s Travis Hunter.
Williams took over as the starter at UNLV midweek and threw for 182 yards and 3 TDs while rushing for 119 yards. Jeanty had another huge game, rushing for 259 yards and 4 TDs. Hunter caught 9 passes for 89 yards and also racked up 2 tackles and a pass deflection.
