What Kirk Herbstreit said about the SEC, elite matchups during College GameDay at Clemson
Highlights from what Kirk Herbstreit said during Week 5’s College GameDay live from Clemson:
On Mississippi State at Texas A&M:
“Back in August, everybody talked about the SEC West and you heard about every team that had a chance except one, Mississippi State. Manny Diaz is doing a remarkable job, only giving up 14 points a game. Texas AM is struggling to take care of Kyle Allen. I’m going with Mississippi State because of their defense and the running of Dak Prescott.”
On Leonard Fournette vs. Eastern Michigan:
“He’ll play a half, I say they get him to the 200 yard mark, 203 … 207 right around there and then they get him out.”
On Arkansas at Tennessee:
“Where’s the passing game gone? (Tennessee) has a great group of wide receivers. To me, it’s about becoming more balanced. Coach fearlessly. On 4th-and-2, they called a jump pass at Florida and got it in the first half. That mentality needs to be there four quarters. This team should be sitting at 4-0. To me, I’m going with Tennessee because it’s at home, but I think Josh Dobbs needs to start airing it out downfield.”
On Alabama-Georgia:
“Brian Schottenheimer has brought an NFL system to Georgia and has a quarterback who is playing in rhythm. Greyson Lambert has recognition and is playing really well. Georgia’s going up against a defense today that plays well against the run and between the tackles. Today, Georgia’s going to have to throw to set up the run. Alabama’s defense along with urgency and redemption, I like Alabama.”
On Ole Miss-Florida:
“The energy in The Swamp will keep this one close, but I think Ole Miss wins on the road.”
