DJ Lagway had one of the worst games of his career against LSU last week. He threw 5 interceptions as the Gators lost 20-10 in Baton Rouge.
However, there’s reason for optimism in Gainesville following that deflating performance.
Florida coach Billy Napier told Kirk Herbstreit that 40 players took Lagway out to dinner Wednesday night to show their support.
“Forty players on the team took him [DJ Lagway] out to dinner on Wednesday night just to kind of put their arms around him and kind of put that behind them…tells you a lot about where that culture is,” Herbstreit said.
This is the same team that started 3-3 last year and bounced back. Herbstreit wouldn’t be surprised if they did a similar thing this year, and it starts with their game against No. 4 Miami Saturday night.
While things are looking down for Lagway and the Gators, Herbstreit reminds fans that this team has a culture unlike many others in college football. Don’t be surprised if they bounce back like they did last year.
Florida and Miami will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium. The game is being broadcast by ABC.
