Kirk Herbstreit’s son, Zak Herbstreit, has reportedly been hospitalized in Columbus.

According to Justin Holbrock with NBC4 Columbus, Herbstreit has been hospitalized at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center. Herbstreit is being “monitored and evaluated” while currently in stable condition.

The cause for the hospitalization is not immediately clear.

Zak is the son of the popular ESPN broadcaster. Kirk was notably a quarterback for the Buckeyes during the 1980s-90s.

The younger Herbstreit joined Ryan Day’s Ohio State program as a walk-on in the 2021 recruiting class. Zak shed his black stripe last season as a full member of the team during fall training camp with the Buckeyes.

Stay tuned for more updates on Zak’s status. Hopefully this proves to be a minor setback for the young Buckeye.
