The rich will get richer at one program in the SEC as long as wide receiver Kirk Merritt doesn’t head West.
The uncommitted four-star prospect from Destrehan, La., is one of the fastest players still on the board as an SEC target and recently listed Alabama, Texas A&M and Auburn in his group of finalists.
The other? Oregon.
Just under 6-feet and 200 pounds, Merritt projects as an instant impact player in the slot at any of the four schools.

During Nike’s ‘The Opening’ event last summer, Merritt said Auburn coaches told him they would like to utilize his speed (4.41) in various situations and perhaps as a running back while the other three programs would emphasize his talents in the spread.
Coming out of the dead period, Auburn is the most wideout-strapped of Merritt’s four finalists with no commits at the position. At Alabama, he would compete with five-star Calvin Ridley, considered the nation’s top pass-catcher according to 247Sports. Texas A&M is loaded at the position with five of their top six leaders in catches returning and three incoming freshmen if commitments stick.
