LSU faces Texas this week in one of the best non-conference matchups of the season.

There are no doubt plenty of reunions from high school teams and matchups. One of them is LSU LB K’Lavon Chaisson, who met Texas QB Sam Ehlinger in the 6A State Title game in 2015. Chaisson said he saw the matchup coming from several years ago during recruiting.

“I don’t really find him too much of a threat, not taking a shot at him,” Chaisson said. “But he uses his legs more than his arm. Just like in high school. He has a decent arm, but it’s more about his legs.”

Chaisson may live to regret that comment as it will quickly turn into bulletin board material for the Longhorns.

Ehlinger has played in 23 career games with 20 starts and was one of five Longhorns elected by their teammates as a captain for the 2019 season.

While LSU demolished Georgia Southern, Texas beat Louisiana Tech 45-14 on Saturday. Ehlinger was 28-for-38 passing for 276 yards and four TDs. He rushed eight times for 34 yards.

For context, Ehlinger last season became the first player in UT history to pass for at least 25 touchdowns and rush for at least 15 in a season, and his 3,292 passing yards are the fifth-most in school history for a single season.

Texas and LSU will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday on ABC.
