Kobe Brown saw his NBA Draft stock skyrocket this past year.
In coach Dennis Gates’ first year at the helm of the Mizzou program, Brown developed into more of a wing-type player that fits an NBA profile.
Now he’s a first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, which was held on Thursday night in Brooklyn. Brown, the former Tiger star, closed out Round 1 as the No. 30 overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers:

Brown joins a Clippers team with some uncertainty about its future. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George also play the wing position that Brown plays, but they are also often injured. Brown figures to get plenty of minutes when those guys are out due to injury or “load management.”
This past season, Brown averaged 15.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He also shot 45.5% from 3-point range, besting his previous career high by more than 20 percentage points.
Can the Clippers turn the corner in 2023-24? Brown figures to play at least a small part in that team’s success this coming year.
