Landing four-star DE Jonathan Kongbo was a major recruiting victory for Butch Jones’ 2016 recruiting class.

But according to a report from Rebels247, the nation’s top JUCO prospect is not officially a Vol just yet.

The report claims that Kongbo has yet to file his letter of intent six days after National Signing Day.

Needless to say, that’s a concerning development for a Tennessee team that has already celebrated the talented defender as one of its own.

According to SEC Country, which was able to contact Kongbo directly about the report late Monday, it is a matter of getting a signature from his father and not about an uncertain feelings towards the Vols program.

“My dad has been away,” Kongbo told SEC Country. “He will sign it when he gets home.”

When asked if he was looking at other schools, Kongbo said, “I’m not looking around. I’m not interested in anybody else.”

Kongbo has completed financial aid paperwork with Tennessee, which is how the school was able to promote him on signing day, according to the report.
