Kool-Aid McKinstry has experienced the Iron Bowl three times now, but he knows how much pressure the game can bring for freshmen.

McKinstry had a couple of tackles, including a sack, his freshman season against Auburn. He’s expecting his fellow defensive back and star freshman Caleb Downs to have a big game too.

Ahead of the game on Saturday, McKinstry shared the words of advice he had for his teammate as he plays in his first Iron Bowl.

“I’ll just tell Caleb to be himself,” McKinstry said. “He already knows what he needs to do as a player, he’s a good player, he prepares the right way, he does everything the right way. I’ll just tell him to be himself, as I would tell him before any game or anytime he asks me any questions. We trust in him and know he’s gonna do his job.”

Downs has had a huge year for the Tide, recording 90 tackles, a forced fumble and a pair of interceptions. He’s looking for a big game over rival Auburn this weekend.
