Florida’s depth at linebacker will be taking a hit heading into spring practice as senior Kylan Johnson is reportedly leaving the program via transfer.

Johnson served mostly as a reserve in Todd Grantham’s defense last season, starting only two games early in the season (vs. Charleston Southern and Colorado State) but he did make an appearance in all 13 games for Florida in 2018. If his career in Gainesville is over, he will leave the program after registering 77 tackles, one sack and two passes defended in his three seasons on the field, which spanned a total of 25 game appearances and nine starts.

News of Johnson’s desire to transfer from Florida was first reported by Brett McMurphy of Stadium.

The Dallas native arrived in Gainesville after playing quarterback for Skyline High School. Johnson has one season of eligibility remaining in his college career as he is currently listed as a redshirt senior for the Gators.
