Pitts, a projected first-round NFL draft pick, was a late scratch from his team’s final home game. He was reported as banged-up from UF’s Week 11 win at Tennessee. It appeared Florida wanted to give Pitts an extra week to heal the unspecified injury before the SEC Championship Game.
Florida’s top pass-catcher previously missed time in concussion protocol following a hard hit in Florida’s win over Georgia. The junior from Philadelphia appeared in 7 games this season, recording 36 catches for 641 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Pitts was missed greatly on Saturday night as the Gators struggled to score in the red zone in their 3-point loss to 23-point underdog LSU.
