Lane Kiffin calls on Ole Miss fans to create program’s ‘loudest stadium ever’ for South Carolina game

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin might be the subject of job rumors linking him elsewhere, but that isn’t stopping him from exhorting the Rebel faithful to show up loud and proud in Week 10.
Kiffin and No. 8 Ole Miss face unranked South Carolina at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday on ESPN at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in a matchup that might not fill the Rebels’ 64,038-seat venue. Ole Miss and South Carolina have a competitive 17-game history, with the Rebels winning 10 of the matchups – including last season’s 27-3 game in Columbia. The Gamecocks’ last win against the Rebels in Oxford was in 2018 by a 48-44 score.
The game is officially a sellout, as has been all Ole Miss home games this season – though lackluster student support in the Rebels’ 24-21 victory over Washington State on Oct. 11 left plenty to be desired. Kiffin offered a double-pronged critique after the victory, saying his team’s energy was “about like our student section.”
Currently 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the SEC, Ole Miss faces a manageable remaining schedule in an attempt to earn its first-ever College Football Playoff berth. In addition to the Gamecocks in Week 10, Ole Miss takes on The Citadel on Nov. 8, Florida on Nov. 16 and plays at Mississippi State for the Egg Bowl on Nov. 28.
The Gamecocks, Gators and Bulldogs have a combined 3-11 conference record in 2025.
