Lane Kiffin has enjoyed a calm and quiet start to the season for Ole Miss football. The Rebels are 2-0 and will surely going to be ranked inside the top 20 when the polls drop later Sunday afternoon.

But the coach loves being part of the discussion, so it’s not surprising that he decided to drum a little fun with his post-game press conference after Ole Miss earned a 59-3 win over Central Arkansas.

Kiffin got in a few quips about rat poison, taking a cue from his old boss Nick Saban, and managed to put over his defense as well.

He also addressed the ongoing quarterback battle between Jaxson Dart and Luke Atlmyer. Both players have one start under their belt now, but Atlmyer was injured Saturday and his status for next week’s game against Georgia Tech is unknown.

“I felt bad for Luke (Altmyer) because he was injured,” Kiffin said. “He’s so competitive that he stayed in when we asked him. You could see on that interception that obviously there was issue there.”

Atlmyer was 6-of-13 for 90 yards and three touchdowns (one rushing) before he was pulled. Dart was 10-of-15 for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

The Rebels should be heavily favored over their next two opponents, Georgia Tech and Tulsa, so the quarterback competition could concievably last for the rest of the month before the schedule picks up.
