When you see a ceremonial first pitch thrown at a baseball game, the pitcher is often in position (at the mound or a bit closer to the plate) when he is introduced over the PA. Lane Kiffin, however, isn’t your typical pitcher.

Friday in Oxford, the Ole Miss head football coach instead came out from the bullpen with “Real American” playing over the speakers. The Swayze Field crowd loved it as Kiffin, sporting a powder blue Rebeles baseball jersey, threw from the mound to his gridiron playmaker John Rhys Plumlee.

As for the baseball game, LSU defeated No. 9 Ole Miss 7-2, clinching the series after the Tigers’ 5-4 Thursday win. The Rebels will look to avoid a sweep in Saturday’s series finale, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET/noon CT.

After the baseball game, fans in Oxford can head over to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to check out Kiffin’s squad in action. The Grove Bowl is set for 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT, streaming on SEC Network+.
