Lane Kiffin has one of college football’s best contracts, says CFB insider

Lane Kiffin has had a strong run of success since taking the reins at Ole Miss, and that’s partially why he’s considered by CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford to have one of the best contracts in college football.
Crawford on Saturday noted Kiffin’s pair of automatic 1-year contract extensions since 2022, triggered due to a stipulation in his contract extending his deal if he wins more than 7 games in a season — not counting a bowl game.
“(It’s) a smart move from the Rebels considering his rapid ascension and reinvigorated career of sorts coming after his coaching rehabilitation stint at FAU,” Crawford said.
Kiffin’s more than surpassed that in 2023 and 2024, with 11 and 10 wins, respectively. That makes 3 10-win campaigns for him in Oxford: as Crawford points out, Ole Miss had hit the double-digit mark just 7 times prior to Kiffin’s arrival.
And while his resume is missing a College Football Playoff appearance, Kiffin has transformed the culture at Ole Miss, with his trademark #ComeToTheSip hashtag an annual call for high-potential players in the transfer portal.
“He has a penchant for the portal in college football’s new era and his acumen offensively makes Ole Miss an attractive destination,” Crawford wrote.
