Lane Kiffin is the new head coach at Florida Atlantic, and this morning he held his official introductory press conference.
Expected flare aside, one of the things he mentioned during the meeting with media was his situation with Alabama had he not found a new gig. Many have presumed that he’d end up as LSU’s next offensive coordinator if not for FAU, as several reports have testified that his contract with the Crimson Tide was due to expire following the College Football Playoff.
That’s not the case, according to Kiffin.
Lane Kiffin said if he wasn’t at FAU, he would have been back at Alabama next year. “That’s why I don’t read what’s out there"

Some aren’t buying that.
Ummm…this is untrue. https://t.co/hp7p26G5Ug

Another nugget: Kiffin's contract at Alabama wasn't renewed/extended this past year. https://t.co/FDQokuWgtY

Whether Kiffin was telling a harmless fib or truthfully proving reports wrong, the result is the same: he’s a head coach again, and Nick Saban doesn’t have to worry about him joining a rival SEC school for at least another year.
