It’s been an interesting week for Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.
Earlier this week, it was revealed Kiffin’s daughter, Landry, is dating LSU linebacker Whit Weeks. The Ole Miss head coach joked about the relationship a few days ago, telling fans to “take the over” on social media for the game.
On Saturday, the Rebels were able to get a 24-19 win as quarterback Trindad Chambliss continued his amazing play since becoming the starting quarterback three games ago. While the over didn’t hit in this game, Kiffin got the last laugh with the victory.
During the postgame interview, Kiffin referenced his daughter’s relationship with Weeks and his ‘over’ take from earlier in the week.
“I’m looking for Whit [Weeks] right now to see if we covered the over,” Kiffin quipped.
For Kiffin and his team, this was a complete team victory. The LSU defense has gotten of talk at the beginning of this year, and rightfully so. That unit really struggled in the last couple of seasons, but it had been fantastic entering Saturday.
The Rebels finished with 480 yards of offense, and were able to stay on the field as they went 8-of-16 on 3rd downs. The defense was equally as impressive, giving up only 254 yards to the LSU offense.
This was a performance the team needed, as the schedule hadn’t been a big challenge yet. The Rebels will be off next week, and then will host Washington State on Oct. 11.
