Lane Kiffin seeks positive response from Ole Miss after 1st loss: ‘No time to sit around and mope’

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss saw their perfect season come to an end as they fell to LSU on Saturday in Baton Rouge. The Rebels now turn their attention to another road game, this time at Texas A&M.
Kiffin, during his Monday press conference, was complimentary of his team’s start against the Tigers before ultimately falling 45-20.
“I told them today, you look at the final score and think, ‘Ok, well, they weren’t ready to play. They came in and got dominated.’ That wasn’t the case. They started really well, didn’t let the crowd affect them and got up 17-3,” he said.
That said, after Ole Miss took a 20-17 lead to the locker room, the wheels ultimately came off as the Tigers outscored the visitors 28-0 in the 2nd half. Kiffin lamented the number of self-inflicted mistakes his players made, especially in the 3rd and 4th quarters. He’ll obviously be looking for a much different response as they head to Kyle Field to face an Aggies team smarting from a loss at South Carolina.
“We had too many penalties. Some poor decisions on ones,” he said. “Like Alabama the week before had 17 penalties. We’ve got to do a better job with that, understanding all the things that go with that and definitely finish games better than we did. No time to sit around and mope with it.”
