Lane Kiffin steals the show at College Football Playoff media day

Published:
Nick Saban keeps Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin on a pretty short leash when it comes to the media.
That’s a smart move by him, but a shame for the rest of us, because typically Kiffin is a very entertaining interview.
The former USC, Tennessee and Oakland Raiders head coach received the opportunity to show his personality at the College Football Playoff media day in Phoenix on Saturday.
Here are some of the highlights:
From one fired USC head coach to another, this is a funny factoid about two guys that used to be co-offensive coordinators for the Trojans under Pete Carroll:
Lane Kiffin said Steve Sarkisian texted him some plays to run at halftime of Michigan State game. Kiffin wouldn’t say if he used them or not

When he was asked about being in Phoenix for the national title game, Kiffin dropped this gem:
Kiffin on Phoenix: "Last time I was here I got fired. Time before that was for the (USC) NCAA hearing. So, yeah, a lot of great memories."

Speaking of his time at USC, Kiffin brought up something interesting here:
Lane Kiffin said Nick Saban offered him OC job Saban’s 1st year at Bama in 2007. Kiffin took 2-3 days & decided to stay at USC

Needless to say, Kiffin was a pretty popular guy on Saturday:
