The Lane Kiffin era is officially underway in Baton Rouge, and the new head coach of the LSU Tigers isn’t wasting any time when it comes to putting his coaching staff together.
Kiffin brought a number of offensive assistants over with him from Ole Miss, but much of his defensive staff elected to stay under former defensive coordinator and newly minted Rebels’ head coach Pete Golding.
This means that Kiffin is on the hunt for a new group of defensive assistants to help him at LSU, and CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz is reporting that he is targeting former Texas A&M staffer and current Syracuse defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson as the next defensive line coach for the Tigers.
A former standout defensive tackle for Penn State, Robinson has over 15 years of coaching experience under his belt, including 6 years as an assistant coach for Texas A&M from 2018-2023 under former head coach Jimbo Fisher.
Robinson has been serving as the defensive coordinator on Syracuse head coach Fran Brown’s staff for the past 2 seasons, but was demoted from his play-calling duties following the Orange’s abysmal 2025 campaign. Now, it looks like a return to the SEC ranks could be in the cards for Robinson on Kiffin’s new staff at LSU.
