Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin‘s pedigree as an offensive mastermind has long been established, with his high-octane system shredding defenses for over 2 decades at this point.

Given Kiffin’s knack for explosive offense, it is only fitting that his only son, Knox, would become a quarterback, just like his old man was in his youth.

While Knox has certainly taken after the elder Kiffin in this regard, he doesn’t appear to be too interested in playing for his dad when the time comes for him to make a college decision.

I’m definitely not going to play for my dad,” Knox told Rivals recruiting expert Adam Gorney during a recent interview. “I want to do my own stuff.

Knox isn’t the first kid who has spent his entire life in the shadow of a famous parent and is now seeking to branch out and forge his own path as a result.

It’s a pretty common theme, especially when it comes to big-time sports. In Knox’s case, the 2028 recruit already appears to be receiving serious interest from several Division 1 programs.

Currently a 6’2 170-pound sophomore gunslinger at Oxford High School in Mississippi, Knox has already received offers from SMU, East Carolina, and Arkansas State.

With 2 more years of growth and development, it’s not very hard to picture Knox growing into a top-flight recruit once his senior year rolls around.

He may not end up playing for his dad, but with the guidance he’s received from one of the sport’s top offensive minds all his life, he’ll undoubtedly be prepared to succeed with whatever program he ends up committing to.
