The Gamecocks dropped their first game of the 2025 season last Saturday when they were routed by Vanderbilt, 31-7, and a massive storyline from that loss was the premature exit of star sophomore quarterback LaNorris Sellers.

The electric dual-threat gunslinger was knocked out of the game against the Commodores shortly before halftime with a concussion, and the South Carolina offense was unable to build any momentum coming out of the break without their best player at the controls.

Now, Shane Beamer and his squad are set for another massive test this Saturday against a ranked Mizzou team, and the status of Sellers for this pivotal Week 4 matchup is still up in the air.

While it’s still unclear whether or not Sellers will suit up for the Gamecocks this weekend, things appear to be trending in the right direction. On3’s Pete Nakos reported that the redshirt sophomore returned to practice on Thursday.

This is obviously massive news for South Carolina, as it means that Sellers has cleared the concussion protocol, a major step toward playing on Saturday night.

Sellers was officially listed as questionable on the team’s initial availability report posted by the SEC on Wednesday night.

If Sellers does end up getting the green light against the Tigers, then it will change the entire complexion of an early-season SEC matchup that already has College Football Playoff implications. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. Mizzou opened as a 3-point favorite but that line surged as high as 2 touchdowns early in the week. As of publication, the Tigers were a 9.5-point favorite at BetMGM.
