Ole Miss star WR Laquon Treadwell denied Biletnikoff Award

Laquon Treadwell returned emphatically from a gruesome leg injury last season to become the SEC’s most prolific pass-catcher in 2015.
The Ole Miss junior put himself in position to be an early first-round NFL Draft pick, if he so chooses to declare. Treadwell told ESPN that he doesn’t think “he has anything left to prove in college,” but added he hasn’t made up his mind.
Treadwell said the only reason he would return is to help the Rebels win the SEC Championship, something he told ESPN that might have happened this season had he been 100 percent healthy.
Whatever percentage he played at was more than good enough for college football defenses.
College football voters agreed. Treadwell was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s top receiver.
Baylor’s Corey Coleman won the award during the College Football Awards Show on Thursday night. TCU’s Josh Doctson also was a finalist.

Doctson led the nation in receiving yards per game (132.7) and had 14 TD catches. Coleman led the nation with 20 TD catches and had 1,363 receiving yards.
Treadwell led the SEC in receiving yards (1,082) and was tied for third in TD catches (8). He made sensational one-handed catches and turned bubble screens into big gains.
Film study revealed him to be a tremendous decoy, carrying out deep routes knowing he’d never see the ball, and an asset in the running game by delivering crushing blocks.
He was essentially unguardable in one-on-ones, where his size (6-2, 210 pounds) were an obvious advantage over smaller cornerbacks.
He had a five-game stretch in which he topped 100 yards receiving and scored at least one touchdown.
He needs seven catches in the Rebels’ Sugar Bowl date with Oklahoma State to become Ole Miss’ career leader, supplanting Chris Collins (198).
Alabama’s Amari Cooper won the Biletnikoff Award in 2014.
