Netflix’s docuseries “Last Chance U” has inspired a new scripted series.
Friends and Cougar Town star Courteney Cox will headline and executive produce the series in development, according to a report by Deadline.com.
The untitled show was inspired by “Last Chance U” star Brittany Wagner, who was prominent on the first two seasons of the docuseries. Wagner was the academic advisor at East Mississippi Community College where she helped student-athletes realize their fullest potential.
Along with Cox, Michael Strahan will be an executive producer. Strahan is a Pro Football Hall of Famer who played at Texas Southern University.
Wagner left East Mississippi Community College to become the Catering Sales and Marketing Director for Newk’s Eatery in Birmingham, Alabama. However, Wagner’s Twitter handle now says she’s a motivational speaker and the founder of 10 Thousand Pencils, LLC. She operates BrittanyWagner.com.
Although Wagner won’t be on the show, “Last Chance U” season four will launch on July 19. You can watch the new trailer here.
I have been dying to share this news! Finally, I can!! No one else I would rather tell my story than @CourteneyCox @michaelstrahan @SMAC and @GetSpectrum … this is gonna be good!! 😊❤️✏️ https://t.co/q2VbXBmzse
