The nation’s No. 2 JUCO LB, Jordan Allen, committed to and signed with Tennessee during the early signing period this week.

He had other offers, but he was interested in working with new Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt, who has quite the track record of producing top linebackers — Georgia’s Leonard Floyd and Alabama’s Tim Williams and Ryan Anderson among them.

Allen joined WNML’s Football Futures show on Saturday to discuss his decision to commit to the Vols and work with Pruitt.

Around the 30:30 mark of the podcast, Ward mentioned that Pruitt had success with guys like Leonard Floyd, Tim Williams and Ryan Anderson during his time at Georgia and Alabama. Allen said knowing Pruitt’s pedigree with producing big-time linebackers was a factor in his decision to commit to Tennessee.

“That’s what they showed me on my visit,” he said. “They showed me how they’d use me, how they’d used those guys and that was big, that was huge, how they used Tim, how they used Ryan Anderson. They said, that’s what we believe you can do.”

Whether or not the talented JUCO prospect turns into Pruitt’s next linebacker success story remains to be seen, but he’s gambling on the new Tennessee coach to figure out how to maximize his potential.
