Lee Corso returned to College GameDay for Week 8. The legendary coach and GameDay staple is famous for making picks and is never afraid to be bold.
College GameDay is in Austin for the Week 8 showdown between No. 5 Georgia and No. 1 Texas. Naturally, Kirk Herbstreit had to get Corso’s opinion on the much-anticipated matchup. Herbstreit asked Corso for his prediction, and the legend couldn’t go away from his preseason prediction of Texas winning it all.
“Texas. National champions. Texas,” said Corso. “That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.”
Herbstreit mentioned to Corso that this be would Georgia’s 2nd loss already.
“That’s right. And they may not make the Playoff because of it,” Corso declared.

Of course, Corso expects Texas to go all the way, so it’s not surprising that he sees the team winning in Week 8. Even with a loss, it’s unlikely the Longhorns would be punished too severely for losing to the No. 5 team in the country. In the expanded Playoff era, 1 or 2 losses no longer automatically eliminate teams from contention.
Corso has yet to be wrong on an in-person headgear pick this season. The legend has correctly picked Notre Dame, Texas, LSU, Tennessee, and Alabama thus far.
Corso was not on GameDay for Week 6 or Week 7, though he relayed to Herbstreit that he would have gone with Ohio State for the headgear pick last week in Oregon. Week 8 will be the 2nd time this season Corso has picked against Georgia.
These new SEC rivals will kick off from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET.
