Lee Corso is being properly recognized for his multi-decade career at ESPN. On Monday, Corso was announced as a National Sports Media Association Hall of Fame inductee.

Corso learned of the big news while on the set of “College GameDay” at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles for Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship between Georgia and TCU.

Corso, 87, joined ESPN in 1987 after 28 years as a coach at the college and professional levels, including 17 seasons as a head coach. He is the only original “College GameDay” on-air personality remaining on the show. Corso was first a contributor in 1987-88 and joined as an analyst in 1989. “College GameDay” has won 8 Emmy Awards during Corso’s time with the show.

Corso is joined by Los Angeles Times sports columnist Bill Plaschke as well as posthumous electees, legendary hockey announcer Dan Kelly and essayist Roger Angell.
