College football legend Bobby Bowden is reportedly back in the hospital.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Bowden, 90, was diagnosed Monday with COVID-19. The former Florida State head coach had just recently returned home after spending time in the hospital due to a leg infection.
Bowden’s wife Ann spoke to Jim Henry of the Tallahassee Democrat, sharing that Bobby is back in the hospital as a precautionary measure due to fatigue.
“I feel sure he’s going to be OK,” Ann told the publication.
“I am very positive. I am not an alarmist. He hasn’t been getting around much at all due to his leg; it has been pretty painful. He sleeps much of the day.”
Bobby Bowden had told The Democrat on Monday that he wasn’t experiencing any fever, cough or breathing issues at that time. Ann shared that her husband is scheduled to undergo tests and a chest X-ray.
Bowden’s 91st birthday is next month, Nov. 8. As a college football head coach, Bowden’s official record according to the NCAA is 377-129-4, placing him fourth in wins among all coaches at all levels behind John Gagliardi (489 wins), Joe Paterno (409) and Eddie Robinson (408). The NCAA does not include 12 wins vacated at FSU and 22 victories from Bowden’s time at South Georgia State College.
