Leonard Floyd is reportedly a topic of conversation for the Los Angeles Rams this offseason.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Rams are attempting to trade Floyd. If a deal is unable to be reached, Schefter reports Los Angeles is expected to release Floyd.
ESPN’s Field Yates indicated an outright release of Floyd would create $3 million of cap space for the organization but would leave $19 million in dead money. A post-June 1 designation would create more cap space while also spreading out the dead money over two years.
If the Rams just release Leonard Floyd, it would create $3M in 2023 cap space, while leaving $19M in dead money.
With a post-June 1 designation, they would create $15.5M in 2023 cap space and spread the dead money out over two years (just $6.5M in 2023). https://t.co/MZOdh2QLA4

Floyd was originally a top-10 pick out of Georgia for the Chicago Bears in the 2016 NFL Draft. After mixed results in 4 seasons for Chicago, Floyd found his stride as a pass rusher for the Rams.
Over the past 3 seasons, Floyd hit at least 9 sacks every year with 29 total sacks produced. He also has an interception, 4 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles and 28 TFL while in Los Angeles.
We’ll see where he winds up for 2023.
