Leonard Fournette reaching the end zone in the first quarter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday was a special cause for celebration.
It’s been the rough season so far for the Buccaneers, and the way they begin games has played a role. So when the former LSU star got the Buccaneers on the board with a touchdown on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens, it was a rare sighting.
Fournette’s 1-yard score was the first time the Bucs produced a first quarter touchdown this season.

The 27-year-old Fournette is in his 6th season in the league. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Fournette with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Fournette had 2 seasons of at least 1,000 yards rushing for the Jaguars. Fournette captured a Super Bowl title with the Buccaneers in 2020.
While at LSU, Fournette was a consensus All-American (2015) and rushed for 3,380 yards and 40 touchdowns during his college career. In 2015, Fournette set single-season program records for rushing yards (1,953) and rushing touchdowns (22).
