Following yet another act of violence against police officers this weekend, this time in Baton Rouge, LSU head coach Les Miles cancelled his upcoming scheduled trip to ESPN’s Bristol headquarters for the coming week.

Miles annually makes the trip to ESPN to discuss the upcoming football season in what has become known as the SEC’s ESPN carwash event.

Upon hearing the news of the latest police shooting, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey along with several LSU players took to social media Sunday to express their reactions to the news.

Information on whether Miles will be conducting phone interviews by ESPN during the carwash has yet to be released at this time. The Tiger head coach did however release the following statement Sunday evening:

“My heart hurts for Baton Rouge and what’s happened in our community over the past couple of weeks. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those officers who lost their lives or were injured today in what was a senseless act. I continue to pray for peace, compassion and civility as our city mourns during this extremely sad time for Baton Rouge.”
