Former LSU coach Les Miles is in a tough spot right now. He’s actively seeking a new job, but there are only three openings among Power 5 teams, and that includes the Tigers.
Miles caught up with CBSSports.com’s Dennis Dodd to talk about the job hunt and what he’s been up to since his dismissal from LSU on Sept. 26.
“I’m fired up. I like getting up in the morning and working hard,” Miles told Dodd. “I believe no matter where you put me down, I’ll end up winning and competing for a championship. That’s just the way it is.”
Many of Miles’ critics would say he was no longer competing for championships at LSU because of his offensive philosophy. The Mad Hatter says he’s willing to adapt at his next gig.
“Will I change? You betcha.” Miles said.
When Dodd brings up that Miles is part of a very small group of active coaches (Miles, Nick Saban, Urban Meyer and Bob Stoops) who have been to a national championship game multiple times, he recognizes that his longtime rival is on top of college football.
“Obviously nobody’s got an edge on Nick,” Miles said. “He did a great job.”
“That’s the four coaches. Three of those coaches are coaching their asses off. One of them is waiting to get back into it and do the exact same things he did before and do it on a grander scale if the Lord sees fit.”
