Legendary broadcaster Verne Lundquist welcomed everyone to the “SEC on CBS” one more time to open the telecast for the Elite Eight game between Florida and South Carolina.
Although many fans don’t care too much for Lundquist, everyone who’s an SEC football fan has in one sense grown up with him, and he’s a part of your life whether you like it or not. In all seriousness, he’s had a huge career, and we’re going to miss him calling football games in 2017.
No, he’s not retiring from broadcasting, but he is retiring from doing SEC football games in the fall.
A graduate of the University of Florida and founder of Saturday Down South, Kevin is a college football enthusiast.
