Levi Wallace explains why Alabama is seen as college football’s ‘villain’

Back in the 1990s, the New York Yankees were called “The Evil Empire” because they consistently competed for World Series titles while outspending their opponents.
In college football, Alabama has become a similar dynasty under Nick Saban, landing the No. 1 recruiting classes on a yearly basis and consistently making it to the College Football Playoff.
Speaking with the media on Saturday, Alabama CB Levi Wallace said he understands that Alabama’s run of success makes them a target of other teams (via AL.com):
“We’re seen as the villain,” he said. “I’m sure a lot of people don’t like Alabama because we’re always so good each and every year.”
Regardless of what people think, Alabama is here to stay as long as Saban is the head coach. The Tide will have their work cut out for them to reach the national title game this year, but it’s always unwise to count them out.
If Saban picks up his fifth title at Alabama this year, more people will start to hate the Crimson Tide, but that’ll be just fine with Saban, Wallace and Alabama fans everywhere.
