Hugh Freeze is back in college football for the 2019 season, but lately, the former SEC head coach has been unable to coach.

Liberty recently revealed to the press that Freeze has been missing from the team’s training camp due to spasms. The school added that he is receiving treatment for the spasms, but the school was not able to offer a timeline for his return.

The 2019 season is set to be Freeze’s first since his dismissal from Ole Miss ahead of the 2017 campaign. Ole Miss went 39-25 on the field during Freeze’s tenure (2012-16), but the NCAA vacated 27 of those wins in 2019, making the Rebels’ new official record of the Freeze era 12-25.

Freeze’s Liberty Flames open the season at home against Syracuse on Aug. 31.
