Arkansas-Little Rock trailed Louisiana 66-64 with time winding down in Friday’s game at Louisiana.
But, Little Rock had the ball and had a chance to pull off the win. That’s when chaos took over on the court, though.
As you can see in the video below, as Little Rock crosses half court and tries to work its way into position for a potential game-winning shot, the lights in the arena go out and turn red, which usually happens after a Louisiana victory.
Instead, it happened too soon and Little Rock had to force up a shot in the final seconds after the distraction:
This might be the wildest “arena moment” I’ve seen in a while. Didn’t help Arkansas-Little Rock….https://t.co/M83pGDPTC5

The shot missed, but what was bizarre was that nothing was done about the lighting malfunction that may have helped the home team hold on to the victory.
Little Rock’s coach said the action should have been stopped once the lights went red:
A strange ending to Little Rock game. Trojans had the ball down 2 and with 4 seconds to go, the red lights at the arena went on for about two seconds. They let play continue and Trojans missed a three. Instead, Little Rock has to move on from one of the most bizarre losses of the season.
