LISTEN: SiriusXM radio host berates James Franklin for icing a kicker with a 56-point lead

SiriusXM radio host Mark Packer went off on former Vanderbilt and current Penn State head coach James Franklin on Tuesday afternoon.
Franklin iced Georgia State’s kicker with a timeout in a 56-0 win last week as the kicker attempted to make a field goal at the end of the game to prevent the Panthers from being shut out.
“What he did, icing the Georgia State kicker was absolutely garbage,” Packer said. “You’re up 56-0 … Man, let the kid kick a 31-yarder and if he makes it, hey, it’s 56-3. It doesn’t change anything.
“Nobody’s giving you credit for beating Georgia State, much less playing them,” he continued. “That was so beyond weak that I was embarrassed for Penn State.”
Franklin said after the game he was just trying to get his backup field goal block team lined up properly, which Packer also seemed to think was a “garbage” answer.
