Drew Lock: There’s no reason why Missouri shouldn’t play for SEC Championship or National Championship
Drew Lock isn’t lacking confidence. That much is clear.
The Missouri quarterback has some big-time plans for his senior season. On Thursday, he shared what some of those in-house expectations look like.
Needless to say, Lock isn’t pushing for just another 7-win season. On an appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show,” Lock said that there was no reason that Missouri shouldn’t be playing in a championship game, whether that’s the SEC Championship or the National Championship.
Can @MizzouFootball challenge UGA in the East?
"The sky is the limit. There's no reason why we shouldn't be playing for a championship game whether that's SEC Championship or National Championship. We should be able to win a lot of football games" – @DrewLock23 pic.twitter.com/Tl7YLjIWhc

In Lock’s defense, Missouri is only 4 years removed from earning its second straight SEC East crown and playing for a conference title. And Georgia did just go from a team that won 7 games in the regular season (like Missouri) in 2016 to playing for a national title in 2017.
But as many pointed out in response to that tweet, Missouri has a few more hurdles to overcome before it can get back to Atlanta again.
The Tigers averaged 5.3 wins the last 3 seasons and they’re coming off a year in which they failed to beat a bowl-eligible team. East foes Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina all beat the Tigers each of the last 2 years.
With Lock back, Missouri is hoping to make a major step up back to the program’s early SEC days. Will that happen in his final season in Columbia?
Lock will have plenty of SEC fans reminding him about his bold claim if Missouri comes up short.
