When Texas A&M and Missouri joined the SEC in 2012, it did more than add two teams to the conference and expand the footprint. It drastically changed cross-division meetings.
Until 2012, each team played its five division rivals, one permanent opposite-division rival, and two other rotating opposite-division opponents. In the new 14-team conference, that became six division games, one permanent opposite-division rival and one cross-division rotational game.
Starting the schedule over beginning with 2012 has made for some interesting gaps, especially teams that have played Texas A&M or Missouri in place of someone else.
For teams due for another meeting around 2012, the change has created some especially long gaps for a return visit, some spanning more than a decade.
Since Texas A&M and Missouri haven’t made a full run of the SEC stadiums in four seasons, we’ll leave the Aggies and Tigers off the list. For the other 12 teams, it’s going to be a long time in between visits to certain SEC stadiums.
