LOOK: Barry Odom, Missouri under fire following slow start versus Purdue
By Ryan Black
Published:
Missouri coach Barry Odom fired defensive coordinator DeMontie Cross one day after a home loss South Carolina last week.
The move didn’t do much good for Missouri in the first half of Saturday’s game against Purdue, though, as the Boilermakers jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the opening period. Just before halftime, the Boilermakers’ lead had been extended to 28-3, as Missouri got on the board with a last-second field goal.
After the slow start Saturday, Odom and the program as a whole were receiving plenty of flak on Twitter.
Here’s a sampling of the responses.

Purdue 14-0 over Missouri after 10 minutes. Boilermakers getting 7 was an absolute gift from Vegas to those interested in point spreads.

This is ugly. At what point does MIZ seriously consider firing Odom?

Who can Odom fire this week? #Mizzou

Missouri must be distracted by the shiny helmets Purdue is wearing.

I'm amending this tweet. I think this is one of the worst overall performances from a power-5 team I've ever seen. https://t.co/LNCJyfg3xh

It's time to stop acting like only the rabid, angry corner of the fan base could think Odom should be fired. This team is a dumpster fire.

My wife: “Missouri can’t be this bad, can they?"

There’s still a half of football to play.
But nothing to this point would lead one to expect Missouri can mount much of a comeback in the second half.
